Later you will see some paintings from this visit to the incredible turn of the century resort on Coronado Island…known affectionately as “The DEL” we had a sunburnt visit there.
They say that Imitation is the Sincerest form of Flattery…but I don’t really know about this. At Balboa Park we went to a small art show in the park and found THIS: original BRITA’S…..if you have read this blog, you have checked out the BRITTOS and know what this is……we had to really laugh, how about you????
San Diego Corel Painter IX Class!!
We have a lot to post about the terrific San Diego trip but we will start with thanking our wonderful class! We had a blast there for two days with this group and while I was teaching, I was also learning. This group had a great bunch of ideas and terrific creative artwork. I love being around creative people!! Next time on the West Coast it looks like we will have a great class for the Los Angeles group, but it will be in beautiful Palm Springs in the fall.
Thank you San Diego!! Special thanks to our hosts, Kristine Bardin, Wendy Porter-Francis.
I painted this from a royalty free stock site photograph. I wanted to paint before arriving in MISS because I knew I wouldn’t have time to do much there. This was used as the opening slide in the presentation.
We were in Mississippi at the Pearl River Resort for the PPMA Convention where I spoke for an entire day on creating art from photographs.
We took my mother with us since she had never been to any of my events and we thought she would like this one. Everyone was incredibly nice to us and to her. When we arrived at the airport there was a mixup on our arrival time and we had to wait for our ride to pick us all up with our many bags of luggage. Here we are waiting and Michael going crazy with his cell phone camera.

We especially thank Ray Howell for his help and for hugging my mom a lot. Ray videotaped the entire program so at some point we will have some videos of the programs available. Unfortunately, we had so much fun with Ray, we forgot to take a picture with him!

Also there were Rick and Deborah Ferro speaking and here is our picture from Michaels cell phone. He got caught taking pictures in the casino and he said he deleted it. It’s illegal to photograph in the casino! That night Deborah was the big Roulette winner, but the next night was my turn!!

Here are a few more from Michaels cell phone on the PPMA program.

Thank you Mississippi for hosting us to come and speak and a special thank you to Connie Rawlins who so graciously took us back and forth to the airport and hosted us!!
Robyn had a fabulous Ladie Luncheon at her home to unveil her newest gift from Britto of her personal portrait. We all enjoyed the networking, the wonderful food (she makes the best Poached Salmon ever!) and the gorgeous new Britto hanging on her wall.

All of us thank Robyn for hosting this great luncheon. Look to the lower left of Robyn on the table and there is
a miniature painting I did of her with her other Britto in the square frame. How can I compete? Guess I have to paint mine larger!!
