Anyone that can possibly get to this venue will never regret it for a half second. The week that I spent at Niagara School was the most informative, professional, creative, fun and stimulating class that I have attended The school is a smaller version of the Texas School of Photography but much, much more family like. By the end of the week, interacting with other students, visiting other classes and rubbing elbows of some of the most qualified and experienced instructors there are. I am going to return and I hope that I will see you there. Think of it, Niagara Falls is the most romantic place in the world. Bring the family. There is lots for them to do while you are having fun learning.

Alison, what is confusing? It's the way most of the art is developed now by most of the people I not only know, but also in the art world. It starts out either totally scratch from a blank file that is painted on with a Wacom tablet using software that can paint. The top of the line best program with the most realistic brushes and options is Corel Painter X. Also, you can paint from a photo reference created by yourself. Read the article on the right hand side that is listed under popular posts: Corel Painter Magazine Article to get more technical information. After printing on giclee canvas, the print is treated with gel coatings and acrylic or fast drying oil based paints for emphasis and sometimes also gold leafing and many other options available to create it as multi media art.
Would be happy to give you more references to show how this is all done.

You will find much more information at my newest blog site: www.marilynsholin.com/blog

There are movies and other information there plus tips and tricks for Corel Painter and now to use it to create digital art.

Painters may not give details such as what brand and pigment paint they use, but they sure don't say their paintings are photographs, or sculptures. And a piece of digital art should not be labeled a "painting". I think having a label which clearly defines a piece of digital artwork from a real painting would be beneficial to artists working in both media as well as the general public. Just my 2 cents, sorry if it offends anyone.
